We've got events for everyone!

Want to get involved?

We get it, students are busy people, so the opportunities we offer aim to suit a variety of different schedules because we want you to get involved. Flick through this page to find out about the different events we run on campus, and the different ways you can grow in your faith. Get connected, come and see!

Our faith calls us to mission: ‘go in peace to love and serve the Lord’. The Catholic Chaplaincy has connections across the diocese to get involved outside UQ, and because as we live and study together lets go out and be a force of love. Chaplaincy will take a number of outreach trips throughout the year to fulfill this mission to love others as we are loved by Him.  Our current regular activity is visiting the Blindeye Drop-in Centre for the Homeless at 19 Merivale St., South Brisbane each Saturday morning.  Join us through this website to find out more and stay tuned about this and any other outreach!

Faith Studies

Whether you’re just interested in finding out what us Catholics are about, or you’ve been a Catholic your whole life, faith studies are a great opportunity to discover more. What is a faith study? It’s a small group of three to six people who meet weekly and journey together in faith and friendship throughout the uni semester. If you’re new, we’ll be using ‘Discovery,’ a guided resource that delves into who Jesus is and how He is relevant to our lives today. And if you’re exhausted from studying, we have tea, coffee and snacks to keep you going.

Get in contact with us here at Chaplaincy so we can put you into a faith study!

An open court of open dialogue

Courtalk is a space where everyone of all beliefs and ideas are welcomed. It is the continuation of the Faith and Life series. Last year, powerful and dynamic speakers explored different areas and ideas of faith. The talks form a major part of the UQ Catholic Chaplaincy and provide a forum for students at UQ and around Brisbane to gather in a relaxed environment and explore social and theological issues relevant to today’s world. Look out for the next event!

Student Connect

Give your brain a much needed break

Take a break from study, eat lunch and connect with like-minded students. Find us each Thursday for lunch from 12 noon - 1 pm on the Great Court.  Catholic Chaplaincy provides Pizza while students provide fun, laughter and friendship. Whether you like relaxing in the shade under a tree over your lunch break, or getting active and kicking around a footy in the sun, you will enjoy Student Connect. We know how hard you work, so give your brain that much needed break. Come and join us for lunch!

Student Connect happens every Thursday in the Great Court!

Chill n Chat

A great way to meet others involved with us

A great way to meet others involved in the Catholic Chaplaincy. Chill n’ Chat is an event where students are able to go out and share conversation over great food that will be provided, as well as a short informational session that allows you to learn more about the Catholic faith. Set in a casual environment with tasty treats, great coffee, and even better people, come check out our next topic of discussion and meet others on campus who are interested in learning more about their faith as well. A great opportunity to take a break from university and just chill!

The venue is Holy Family Parish, 37 Ward St., Indooroopilly.  Transport is provided from St Leo"s College Carpark, U.Q.  The event is held on a Tuesday evening, 6 pm - 8.30 pm.

Recharge Retreat

A time to meet God, yourself and others.

In 2015,16, and 17 the Catholic Chaplaincy held an end of year retreat for uni students that provided them with an opportunity to take a break, meet new people, be formed in their faith and have heaps of fun. The retreat was a huge success and all who came got a lot out of it. The 2018 Recharge Retreat will be the weekend of October 27-28th, Saturday morning till Sunday noon.  Transport will be available from the UQ Campus.  Please check out our Facebook page or the Events tab of this website for more details as they become available.  Or, call the Chaplaincy Team on 0429 495 589 to indicate your interest so we can start planning.
